His Majesty gave a speech in which he affirmed Spain's effective commitment to the 2030 Agenda, promoting human rights and gender equality, building peace, combating terrorism and serious crimes against humanity, principled humanitarian action, protecting the vulnerable, and protecting the environment.
With regard to the Middle East, His Majesty affirmed that Spain fully welcomes the peace agreements between the State of Israel and a number of Arab countries, while expressing at the same time Spain's hope for the resumption of negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis with the aim of establishing two states, coexisting in peace and security side by side.
His Majesty also welcomed the Gulf reconciliation, expressing Spain’s hope that this reconciliation would contribute to achieving security, stability, cooperation and mutual trust in this strategic region.
For his part, His Excellency Majid Al Suwaidi conveyed on this occasion to His Majesty King Philip VI the congratulations and greetings of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, "may God protect him" and his brother His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. And his brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, stressing the deep friendship and good friendly relationship between the two countries.
