  • The bilateral relationships bonding the United Arab Emirates and its sister State of Kuwait have witnessed critical epochs, where such bond was deeply grounded and pushed forward either bilaterally or within the frame of the Gulf Cooperation Council, in a way that reflected the achievement of both countries’ interests.
  • The credit of cementing the pillars of such bond bringing together both the UAE and Kuwait goes to the late H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan as well as to his brother, the late H.H. Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah whose brotherhood have lasted and strengthened for ages ever since they met back in 1973.
  • The bilateral sisterly relationship shared by the two countries became solider and more compacted under the wise leadership of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates and H.H. Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of the State of Kuwait; as such relationship sets an example for the rock-hard ties deeply rooted in the hearts and souls of both countries sharing a mutual history of their own.
  • In addition, such ties were reinforced by means of the visits exchanged by and between both leaderships; including the very first visit made by H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, after assuming power to Kuwait on 28th March, 2013. Such visit boosted the bilateral relationships bonding the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. Moreover, the political ties connecting the United Arab Emirates and the State of Kuwait represent a notable development reflected by the mutual coordination carried out by both countries in regional and international venues tackling the common issues to serve their interests. 
  • Hence, the signing of the agreement to establish a Joint Committee for Bilateral Cooperation on 24th April, 2006 in the city of Kuwait in addition to the first meeting of the said Committee held in Abu Dhabi on 1st March, 2008, which was presided by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs at the time, came at the apex of the existing relations between the two countries.
  • The State of Kuwait has always, and still, occupied a peculiar place in the hearts of the Emiratis as well as the heart of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, who bestows it with his utmost care and consideration. 
  • On 2nd June, 2013, the second session of the Higher Joint Committee was held during which various programs and agreements were signed including: the Environment Interactive Program 2014/2015, the Executive Program for Cultural and Technical Agreement conducted by and between the two countries for the years 2013, 2014 and 2015, the Cooperation Program signed by and between the foreign ministries of the two countries in the field of diplomatic training and research in addition to the signing of a Joint Cooperation Protocol between the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry on one hand and the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry on the other hand. 
  • As for the third session of the Higher Joint Committee for cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the State of Kuwait, it was held on 14th-15th December, 2014 at the head office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the United Arab Emirates.
  • During the session, a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) was signed by and between the Securities and Commodities Authorities in both the United Arab Emirates and the State of Kuwait in addition to a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for industrial cooperation, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the field of oil, gas, petrochemicals and new and renewable sources of energy, an executive program for cooperation in the field of libraries, culture and arts signed by and between Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture & Heritage and the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters in Kuwait, as well as an executive program for cooperation in the field of libraries, culture and arts signed by and between Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture & Heritage and the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters in Kuwait for the years 2014 - 2017. 
  • The first session of the Joint Consular Committee of the United Arab Emirates and the State of Kuwait was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 5th November, 2015. The session was presided by H.E. Ahmed Saeed Elham Al Dhaheri, the UAE Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and H.E. Faisal Saleh Al-Ateeqi, the Kuwaiti Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 
  • On the one hand, H.E. Ahmed Saeed Al Dhaheri asserted that holding that first session on the level of the GCC was a conformation of the two countries’ willingness and fervor to enhance and cultivate the solid bilateral relations aiming at leveling up these relations while reflecting the ambitions of the high leaderships in the two sisterly countries in order to serve their mutual goals in different arenas. 
  • On the other hand, H.E. Faisal Saleh Al-Ateeqi, the Kuwaiti Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Consular Affairs, pointed out the ancient and historical ties of the two sisterly countries. He also anticipated that such meeting would be another step taken on the path to achievements corresponding to the aspirations of the wise leaderships of both countries.
  • During the meeting, mutual consular issues in various fields of interest were tackled. Besides, procedures of consular measures in the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs were demonstrated. As the agenda came to closure, H.E. Ahmed Saeed Elham Al Dhaheri, the UAE Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and H.E. Faisal Saleh Al-Ateeqi, the Kuwaiti Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, signed the committee minutes of meeting. In conjunction with the Joint Consular Committee works, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs delegation paid a visit to the Certification Center in order to review the procedures applied as well as the mechanism of E-certification in the state.
  • The work of the second session of the joint (Kuwaiti - UAE) consular committee on 12/2/2017 -Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MOFA) in Abu Dhabi hosted the functions of the third UAE-Kuwaiti Consular Committee on 6/11/2019.
  • 11/5/2020, State of Kuwait hosted the fourth session of the joint UAE-Kuwaiti Consular Committee through online video conferencing, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Al-Nasser Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly State of Kuwait.
