GCC citizens do not need a visa to enter the UAE. 

Some of the other nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival while others need to apply for a visa in advance.

New Zealand Citizens - Tourism Visa Requirements -You can get a visa on arrival valid for 30 days. 

Visa information 

  • The visa on arrival is valid for 30 days from the date of entry. 
  • There is a 10-day grace period for extension. - Extended, the total validity would be 60 days from the date of entry. 
  • Passports should be normal and valid for more than six months. - This is a multi-entry visa. 

The visa holder can consume the 30-day validity regardless of whether they are inside or outside the UAE – days spent outside the UAE are calculated from the 40-day validity of the visa. 

New Zealand Citizens

  • Tourism Visa Requirements
  • Transit visas are available for all passport holders, from 48 to 96 hours. 
  • Visas are valid for entry to the UAE up to 30 days from the date of issue. 
  • Passengers must have a valid onward flight booking outside of the UAE and a valid hotel booking for the duration of the stay in the country. 

You will need to show copies of these bookings. 

  • It's advisable to plan ahead and apply for visas in advance of booking your stopover and transit through Dubai.

New Zealand Citizens

  • Work Visa Requirements
  • Anyone is eligible to come and work in the UAE, provided they have a valid work visa. 
  • Your employer will need to apply for your work visa. The duration and validity of this are subject to the terms of your employment contract. 
  • You will require a passport valid for at least six months at the time of entry, recent color photographs with a white background and other documents
  • If you are already in the UAE, you can apply for a change of status or can exit the country and return.

Republic of Fiji, Tuvalu 

Citizens of Fiji, Tuvalu, Kingdom of Tonga

  • Tourism Visa Requirements
  • You will need to arrange a visa before your trip to Dubai.
  • There are a variety of short- and long-term visa options available offering multiple or single entry. These vary from 30-90 days eligibility.
  • The following visa types are available: 

1. Tourist Visa - 30 days validity with single or multiple entry 

2. Long Term Tourist Visa - 90 days validity with single entry 

3. Long Term Visit Visa - 90 days validity with multiple entry 

4. Service Visa - 14 days validity with single entry Please note visas are valid for entry to the UAE up to 60 days from the date of issue. - Who can apply for a visa on your behalf? 

  • Airlines such as Emirates, Fly Dubai, Etihad Airways and Air Arabia
  • Five-, four- and three-star hotels where you have booked a stay 
  • Licensed travel agents or tour operators with whom you have arranged a trip. Please be sure to check the authenticity of travel agents before sharing any details and documentation.
  • Friends or relatives who are residing in the UAE 
  • Companies or organizations. -Required documents:

1.Passports with at least six months validity prior to you date of travel to Dubai. Passports must also be machine readable – handwritten passports will not be accepted.

2.Coloured photographs

4.Application form or additional documents depending on visa type 

5.Visit the Dubai Department of Naturalization & Residency (DNRD) website to find out more about other types of sponsors, such as hotels or companies.

Attestation Legalization of Documents the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Wellington legalizes documents from the following countries: 

  • New Zealand 
  • Fiji 
  • Tonga
  • Tuvalu 

Applicants who send documents for legalization listed under "A" should fulfil & include the following: 

  • Authenticate the document/s from the Department / Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade of the above-mentioned countries. 
    Please note that, if there are more than one document in a bundle, we charge you on a separate basis. 
  • A fee to be paid according to the type of the documents by a New Zealand TT or Bank Cheque. 
  • A covering letter which includes: the full name of the sender, the document's name holder if it is different than the sender's name, full physical address, e-mail address & day phone number. Please note that failure of including a covering letter might lead to the rejection of the legalization of the document/s. 
  • A pre-paid self-addressed return envelope. If the return envelope is by courier, please send of filled and signed consignment note with the document/s. 
  • The process of legalization takes from three to five working days after the receipt of the document/s. 
  • Legalization of Commercial Invoices and related documents to the exportation of goods to the UAE. New Zealand exportation documents should be stamped from the local New Zealand chamber of commerce and industry. 
  • The process of legalization takes at least three to five working days.
  • Include a pre-paid self-addressed return envelope. 

Calculation of Commercial Invoice fee: 

  • The fee of the commercial invoice depends on its total value. For example, if the total value of the invoice is in US Dollars, multiply it by 4.00 and if it is in New Zealand Dollars multiply it by 5.00 in order to convert it to UAE currency and then find out the exact fee in New Zealand Dollars from the following table. 
  • This applies only to the commercial invoice which its total value is up to two million UAE Dirhams. If the total value exceeds 2 million UAE Dirhams, please contact one of the officers in the Consular Section to calculate for you the exact fee.
