On December 30th, 2023, Council Decision (EU) 2024/210 of 30 December 2023 on the full application of the provisions of the Schengen acquis in the Republic of Bulgaria and Romania was adopted. In accordance with the aforementioned decision, Romania became, partially, a Schengen Member State, beginning with March 31st, 2024, therefore air and sea border controls were lifted.
At the same time, Romanian authorities fully apply the Schengen acquis and subsequently, issue Schengen visas which will allow holders to travel within the Schengen area for stays not exceeding 90 days.
