Since the establishment of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in April 1998, the relationship between the two friendly countries has grown with continuous vigor in all arenas such as trade, tourism and medical sectors. The two governments set and focused their policies on developing and promoting common interests, which resulted in the current strong and well-established relations.

Important aspects of the bilateral relationship could characterize as follows: 

Development of Diplomatic and Political Relations: -

  • The UAE and the Kingdom of Thailand linked with distinct diplomatic relations started since December 12, 1975, interpreted into realty in January 1992 when the Kingdom of Thailand opened a Consulate General in Dubai, followed by the opening of its Embassy in Abu Dhabi in November 1994, while the UAE opened an Embassy in Bangkok, in April 1998.
  • Since 1977, Active political relationship commenced through mutual visits of official delegations and VIPs between the two countries

  • His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan - Minister of Foreign Affairs visit the Kingdom in November 15, 2017, to strengthening existing bilateral relationships
  • October 8 - 10, 2016, Dr. Thani Al-Zeyoudi, Minister of Energy and Climate Change, chaired the country's delegation at the second summit of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD)
  • May 12, 2016, witnessed His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan - Minister of Foreign Affairs visit to conduct the first meeting of the joint committee (1st JC).
    From the Thai side:
  • on December 2016, H.E. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs paid an official visit to the United Arab Emirates to foster bilateral relations
  • January 2017, witnessed the visit of H.E. General Anantaporn Kanjanarat, Minister of Energy, to attend the 7th Session of the Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Abu Dhabi
  • On January 2017, H.E. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs, visited UAE to attend the 15th Ministerial Meeting of Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) in Abu Dhabi
  • On October 2017, H.E. General Sirichai  Distakul, Minister of Labour, helm a delegation to attend the World Skills  Abu Dhabi  2017 
  • On October 2018 H.E. Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, attend the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference 2018 in Dubai
  • On November 2018, H.E. Dr. Siri Jirapongphan, Minister of Energy, attend the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference 2018 (ADIPEC 2018) in Abu Dhabi
  • On March 2019, H.E. Veera Rojpojanarat, Minister of Culture, chaired the opening ceremony of Thai Festival 2019 and met with H.E. Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development of UAE
  • On September 2019, H.E. Sontirat Sontijirawong, Minister of Energy, Led Thai delegation to attend the 24th World Energy Congress and the 8th Asian Ministerial Energy Roundtable (AMER) in Abu Dhabi.
