Electronic Travel Authorization for visiting the United Kingdom (ETA)

Background

Starting from 22th February 2024, citizens of the United Arab Emirates will be exempt from the requirement for a pre-entry visa to enter the United Kingdom.Instead, the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system will be adopted, and applications will be accepted starting from 1st February 2024.

Applications for the electronic travel authorization can be submitted through the UK GOV official website or by using the ETA mobile application.

The electronic travel authorization is valid for two years from the date of issuance or until the expiration of the passport used for the application (whichever is earlier). During this period,individuals can visit the United Kingdom for an unlimited number of trips.

The electronic travel authorization can be applied for purposes such as tourism, visiting relatives and friends, investment, or studying for a short and limited period. The duration of stay should not exceed 6 months for each trip.

How to apply for the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA):

Download the UK ETA app on your mobile phone or visit the official website for online travel authorization.
Ensure that your passport is valid for at least 6 months at the time of your trip.
Provide an email address to receive confirmation messages.
A valid bank card for paying the application fees, or use Apple Pay or Google Pay.
You will be required to submit a copy of your passport and a selfie during the application process using the app.
If applying on behalf of someone else who cannot be present during the application, you must apply via the online website.
The fee for the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) application is £10, payable at the time of application.
The ETA will be issued within 3 business days.

Note: You do not need to apply for an electronic travel authorization if you already have a valid visa for purposes such as visit, study, work, or a residence permit in the UK. The visa should still be valid at the time of application and travel.
