  • The UAE-Tunisian bilateral relations are characterized by the sense of fraternity and continuous communication. These relations were deeply established more than four decades ago by the foregiven Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace, and his brother, President Habib Bourguiba. The bonds of these distinguished brotherly relations continue thanks to the wise directives and sound vision of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, may Allah protect him, and his brother, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may Allah protect him.
  • The bilateral cooperation relations covered all fields and various sectors. The United Arab Emirates has been a leading country in investment, project achievements and financing facilities in the brotherly Republic of Tunisia since 1974, through the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, which was the front runner to participate in helping Tunisia achieve unprecedented projects in the fields of industry, agriculture, energy and services.
  • This distinguished bilateral cooperation with its economic dimensions did not prevent the wise leadership of the United Arab Emirates from performing its duty and responsibility to unproudly support the brotherly Tunisian people in the field of humanitarian cooperation, since the duty of sincere fraternity bonds required countries to give hands to brotherly countries when needed. As the relations between the two countries are only built on give and take in accordance with their respective available capabilities.
  • In this context, the United Arab Emirates paid great attention to harnessing its available capabilities to support its brotherly country Tunisia in facing repercussions and effects of natural disasters, as well as on religious and social occasions, in addition to supporting institutions that perform important services to society.
  • During the last six years, the United Arab Emirates has continued its support initiatives for the brotherly Tunisian people, including the health sector by providing a large number of Tunisian hospitals with ambulances and advanced medical equipment. As well, the United Arab Emirates; out of its well appreciation to the great humanitarian effort of the Tunisian people who embraced and sheltered hundreds of thousands of displaced people fleeing Libya during the Libyan revolution, was keen to support it through the logistical and material support it provided to Tunisia to set up and run camps on the Tunisian-Libyan borders.
