The Embassy is open from Monday to Friday 9:00 AM to 4 PM
For attestation and consular services:

Do I require a visa to enter the UAE and how can I apply if not exempted?

The embassy does not issue visas for normal passport holders. It is obtained through a sponsor in the UAE or through UAE national carriers Emirates Airlines or Etihad Airways, your relatives, hotel, travel agency, etc. You can check whether or not you require a visa to enter UAE. You can contact the Embassy for more details.

How can Non-UAE Nationals holding diplomatic/official/European Laissez-Passer passport apply for entry visa?

I have the UAE resident visa. I can’t go back to the UAE within 6 months. How can I prevent my card from expiring without returning to the UAE?

Kindly request permit for staying outside the UAE over 6 months through Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security. If you are a resident of the Emirate of Dubai, kindly request it through GDRFA Dubai.

I will transit at an airport in the UAE. Do I need to get a transit visa if I need to move to a different terminal?

Visa is not required for any nationality as long as you stay inside the airport and do not go through immigration. Please check with your airline whether you will be required to enter the UAE with your flight ticket.

Can minors go to the UAE alone?

Where can I find the list of things which I can bring to the UAE?

Is there a maximum limit for bringing in cash, etc. to the UAE?

If you are bringing in 60,000 Dirhams, or a foreign currency equivalent, you must declare it. Please check with Abu Dhabi Customs or Dubai Customs for further information.

Are there any procedures required to bring medicines to the UAE?

Kindly make sure you carry your prescribed medicine report or medical report before you depart. Also make sure you attested either reports at the Embassy before your departure. If you bring controlled or semi-controlled drugs to the UAE for personal use, it is recommended to obtain a permit through UAE Ministry of Health.

How can I attest my medical reports or medical prescription?

Medical report
The Medical report must be issued by a Medical Facility and not more than a year has passed since the issuance date of the medical report. The following information should be mentioned on the medical report.
① Name of the patient (Full name)
② Medical diagnosis
③ Name of the Medicine (Scientific and Commercial name)
④ The quantity prescribed
⑤ Treatment plan for the patient
⑥ Date of issue of the medical report
⑦ Name of physician and his/her specialization
⑧ Address of the medical facility
⑨ Stamp of the medical facility
 
Medical prescription
The Medical prescription must be issued by a Medical Facility and should not be more than 3 months old. The following information should be mentioned on the medical prescription.
① The Medical prescription must be released by Authorized Medical Facility
② Name of the patient (Full name)
③ Name of the Medicine(Scientific and Commercial name)
④ Doses prescribed
⑤ Date of the prescription
⑥ Duration of the treatment
⑦ Treatment plan for the patient
⑧ Name of physician and his/her specialization
⑨ Address of the medical facility
⑩ Stamp of the medical facility
 
NOTE: Original documents should be authenticated by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

 

How can I bring pets to the UAE?

Please check with UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment for bringing pets to the UAE.

What kind of document can be legalized by the embassy?

Please refer to UAE MOFA or contact the Consular section to see if your documents can be attested at the Embassy.

What documents are required for attestation when I visit the embassy?

①Original documents authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan
NOTE: Apostille is not accepted. Please refer to MOFA Japan for authentication process. When the original document is issued in Japanese, English or Arabic translation must be accurate. In principle, we only attest documents issued within 6 months and we do not accept handwritten documents but signature needs to be handwritten.
When the document is a School Certificate issued from a regular Japanese school, authenticate it directly at MOFA Japan. Certificates with a stamp of notary and legal affairs bureau are not acceptable.
When the document is POA (Power of Attorney) appointing individuals, please mention the appointed person’s name (Please write his/her name exactly as it appears in passport), passport number and nationality on the document and bring his/her passport copy for our reference.

How can I get a document that was issued in the UAE attested by the UAE embassy in Tokyo?

① All documents should be either Original or true copy (for Individuals/Commercial)
② The documents must be attested through UAE authorities depending on the documents content
③ The documents must be attested by UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs
④ Finally, the documents must be attested at the UAE Embassy in Tokyo to be used in Japan

 

Japan’s Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Japan’s Consulate General in Dubai did not attest my documents legalized by UAE MOFA. Do the UAE Embassy in Japan accept the document attested only by UAE MOFA?

Yes, the Embassy can attest the documents legalized by UAE MOFA.

Where and when can I pay the attestation fee?

Payment for attestation can only be made online through UAE MOFA. Payment can be made anytime (24/7). However, we recommend you to pay the attestation fee at the same day of visiting the embassy due to cancellation policy.

How do I attest the Invoices and certificates of Origin, also I would like to know the fees and the payment method?

How do I open an account (Individual or corporate) to do online payment?

I am requested to submit the UAE issued Non-criminal certificate because I have lived in the UAE in the past. How can I get it?

Kindly apply through UAE Ministry of Interior.

I have the UAE driving license. How can I drive in Japan with this license?

Driving with Emirati license is not allowed; however, the International Driving permit is acceptable for one year. Make sure that the IDP is valid when driving in Japan. You can check the validity of IDP (International Driving Permit) on the website of Tokyo Metropolitan Department in English and Arabic
 
If you are planning to reside in japan, you need to convert your UAE driving license after you finish the procedures at the Japanese Driving Authority. One of the required documents is a Japanese translation which can be obtained through Japan Automobile Federation.

 

I need supporting documents issued from the UAE Embassy in order to convert my UAE DL to Japanese DL.

The embassy only issues the “English translation of UAE driver license attested by the embassy”.
Please bring the following documents when you visit the embassy to apply for the translation.
① Japanese residence card (should be currently valid)
② Passport (should be currently valid)
③ UAE driver license (should be currently valid)
④ UAE visa which was valid when you obtained the driver license above (the visa is usually attached to the passport)
If you do not have the original residence visa , kindly obtain “To whom It may Concern“ certificate issued by Ministry of Interior and get the certificate attested by UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
NOTE: All documents from ① to ④ should be the original, not damaged.

How can I cancel my attestation payment which I made on UAE MOFA portal?

If it has not passed 24 hours after your payment, you can cancel your payment through your account. If it has passed 24 hours, please call UAE MOFA at +97180044444 to proceed the refund.
