  • Diplomatic relations between Czechoslovakia and the United Arab Emirates were established in 1988. In 1993 after the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia, relations were renewed between the newly formed Czech Republic and the United Arab Emirates.
  • 2015 witnessed a number of events in diplomatic and economic relations between the Czech Republic and United Arab Emirates.
  • In February 2015, the President of the Czech Republic H.E. Miloš Zeman paid an official visit to the United Arab Emirates, where he was received by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the U.A.E. Armed Forces to discuss ways of enhancing relations. This was the first visit of a Czech head of state to the United Arab Emirates since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1988.
  • In April that year, H.E. Sultan AlMansouri, the Minister of Economy visited Prague together with a delegation of Emirati businessmen to explore investment opportunities in the Czech Republic. One of the outcomes of the visit was the establishment of the Czech Business Council under the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, leading to further deepening of economic relations between the business communities in both countries.
  • In August 2015, the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates to the Czech Republic opened in Prague. H.E. Mr. Mohammed Hamad Omran AlShamsi presented his Letters of Credence as the first resident Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Prague, to the President of the Czech Republic, H.E. Miloš Zeman. This important sign highlighted the development of diplomatic relations between the Czech Republic and United Arab Emirates of that year.
  • The Czech Minister of Industry and Trade, H.E. Jan Mládek and a delegation consisting of members of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic headed by H.E. Petr Gazdík, Vice Chairman of the Chamber, and representatives of 26 companies headed by H.E. Bořivoj Minář, Vice-president of the Czech Chamber of Commerce travelled to the United Arab Emirates in November 2015.
  • In October 2017, H.E. Abdulla Mohamed Almaainah presented his credentials to the President of the Czech Republic, H.E. Miloš Zeman.
  • In September 2018, Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum , Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai welcomed H.E. Radek Vondráček, President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic and accompanying delegation. H.E. Radek Vondráček was also welcomed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the U.A.E. Armed Forces. During this visit, H.E. Radek Vondráček met with the President of the United Arab Emirates Federal National Council, H.E. Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, and a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation was signed between the Federal National Council and Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic with the aim of strengthening the framework of consultations; coordination and exchange of opinions on various common matters; strengthening communication between the two countries; exchange of parliamentary visits and activites between both parties and organising bilateral parliamentary visits for the purpose of parliamentary coordination in the participation in regional and international parliamentary events.
