- The bilateral relations between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Kingdom of Norway began
- On February 11th, 1974. In 1994, the Kingdom of Norway opened its embassy in the UAE. Norway’s Ambassador to the UAE H.E. Olav Myklebust, presented his credentials to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in October 2023.
- The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates was opened in Oslo in June 2014.
- Her Excellency Fatema Khamis Almazrouei, the United Arab Emirates Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway presented her credentials to HM King Harald V on January 19th, 2023.
- The visit by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Kingdom of Norway in June 2016, had a positive impact.
- His Highness expressed the UAE's keenness to open new horizons for cooperation with Norway, especially in political, economic and investment fields, renewable energy and foreign aids.
- It should be noted that there is ongoing cooperation between Norway and UAE in various fields represented by the signing of the Political Consultations Agreement between the two countries.
- Norway participated in Expo 2020 in Dubai, which promoted Norwegian sustainable solutions and companies in the Emirates.
- The plans of the UAE government to develop economic and investment sectors at the regional and international levels have attracted many companies from Norway and other countries to invest in various sectors in the UAE, especially oil and gas, marine services, information technology and communication, food and fish products, as well as many small companies working in the fields of furniture and interior designs.
- The number of Norwegian companies in the UAE is about 150 companies in various sectors, mainly in oil and gas, maritime transport and advanced technology.
- Norway has great expertise and technological capabilities, especially in the sectors of energy, petrochemicals and constructions.
- The two countries also have a memorandum on mutual visa exemption for passports, and there have been direct daily flights for Emirates Airlines since September 2014.
