His Excellency Dr Fahad Obaid Mohamed Altaffag Almarashda, Ambassador Extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the Commonwealth of Australia March 27, 2024.
Prior to his current assignment, His Excellency was the UAE Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Nigeria since between April 2018-April 2023.
His Excellency previously held the position of Director of the African affairs directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation during the periods April 2023 - April 2024.
His Excellency had served as the Director of Economic and Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation during the periods January 2015 -January 2018, Vice Chair at the Indian Ocean Rim Association between September 2016 and February 2018, in addition, HE was managing the special projects department at the Tawazun Economic Council “Offsets” during the periods of January 2011- August 2014, He also held various managerial positions in Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation and Dubai Municipality.
Over the years, His Excellency has been a member of various international and national committees and associations including the World Energy Councils 2019, World Energy Congress in Abu Dhabi, the Executive team for the Foreign Direct Investment contribution in the GDP, the Executive Team on countering protective measure and Anti-Dumping practices, the UAE-Italy Friendship Association, the UAE Steering Committee at the World Trade Organization, and the Committee of Avoidance of Double Taxation and Investments Protection and Promotion.
The distinctive service record over the years have qualified His Excellency to receive the Distinction Order by HH Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in February 2017, the Middle East Award for the Future Distinctive Leader in June 2014, the Jordan Business Council Award for Academic Excellence in 2010, and also His Excellency received HH Sheikh Rashid Award for Scientific Distinction in 2000 and 2019.
His Excellency Dr Fahad Obaid Mohamed Altaffag Almarashda, holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Economic Diplomacy from the United Arab Emirates University, UAE. Also, HE has a Master Degree in Business Administration with concentration in Finance from the American University in Dubai, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computing and Information Systems from the University of Dubai. His Excellency has completed the Duke Leadership Program at Duke University in Durham USA, He also completed executive diplomas in Strategic IQ and Building Smarter Organization from Harvard Business School-USA, and Achieving Outstanding Performance from INSEAD Business School in France, and Negotiation Skills and Decision-Making Strategies from Chicago Booth Business School-USA.
His Excellency is married and has four children (2 Boys and 2 Girls).
