Upon declaration of this new state, Egypt was among the first nations to recognize the nascent federation and also supported its presence at both international and regional levels as a cornerstone of security, stability and new point of strength to the Arab nation.
  • Overall, the Egyptian-Emirati relations, since their inception, are distinguished by specialty and mutual respect, especially under the umbrella of the friendship bond between the leaders of both countries.
  • This is positively reflected on the various aspects of bilateral relations officially at the political and economic levels and popularly at the commercial, social and cultural levels.
  • Perhaps the most salient feature of the political relations between the two countries is their ability to anchor solidarity and brotherly ties within a frame of common goals; prominent among which is Arab solidarity and cooperation.
  • The two countries also, in various international forums, renounce violence and call for resolving differences by peaceful means.
  • The growing bilateral ties between both countries resulted in an increasing cooperation especially at the various economic levels.

 As a result, UAE ranks high among Arab and foreign countries investing in Egypt:

  • On July 22nd, 2008 Egypt and the UAE signed two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries; The MoU on political consultations provides for regular bilateral talks to discuss relations and to exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
  • The MoU on reciprocal waiver of visa requirement enables diplomatic passport holders to enter, transit, and exit from the territory of each other's country, and allow them to stay in each other's territory for a maximum period of 90 days without a visa.
